This 2024 Wild Boar Cellars Chardonnay was crafted with fruit from Charlottesville. The wine is a stunning example of its varietal. It has a beautiful, almost iridescent appearance with a light white-yellow color and a platinum halo. On the nose, the wine has distinct aromas of pear, lemon, apple, hints of honeydew, and the freshness of fuzz on an underripe peach. On the palate, we enjoy the lovely apple, pear, and peach, highlighted by a bright, clean acidity. As the wine finishes, we are rewarded with a hint of bright acidity yet again, before it wanes and gives way to creamy vanilla with a hint of lemon pith. Without a doubt, the wine beautifully showcases the freshness of the varietal. The delightful creamy vanilla we experience both on the palate and the finish is certainly attributable to the oak in which the wine was elevaged. Pairing this wine is easy: opt for shellfish, such as oysters, clams, mussels, or shrimp. Grilled swordfish, roasted chicken, and sushi are great pairings as well. For vegetarians, grilled vegetables – like carrots with feta – will be an excellent match. Salads are a guaranteed hit, and so are soft and creamy cheeses like Brie, Camembert, Mozzarella, and Ricotta. Enjoy now through 2027. Serve this wine a bit on the chilly side – 50°-52°
