2023 Wind Swept Hill

This is our ninth Wind Swept Hill since 2013. We did not craft the wine in 2018 due to the extremely tough growing conditions. Windswept is one of our signature wines fashioned in a right bank Bordeaux style. This vintage is cabernet franc Dominate followed by Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot. As with all vintages the fruit is the best “first fruit” from the vineyard. The blend in this vintage results in luscious nose of cranberry and candied red current with a hint of Lavender. On the palate the wine bursts with the same rich ripe fruit we experience on the nose and at the finish we experience a insinuation of pencil shavings – exceptional. This vintage of Windswept Hill is beautifully crafted and well balanced with a lush texture and medium soft tannins. As the wines ages, we will see the fruit exhibit more cooked qualities. Pairing this Wind Swept Hill with food will bring out the stunning nuance of the wine. Slightly sweet and rich cheeses such as Comte will be exceptional, pate of lamb and duck will be sensational, Roast duck, filet of beef, lamb, pasta and pizza.
